HOW THEY MET

“YOU NEED TO GO IN THE GOLF SHOP? I GOT IT, I CAN GO!”

Cole started to work as a golf shop attendant at The University of Maryland in the summer of 2017, but it wasn’t until Cole’s friend Donald confessed to Ludovica that Cole had a crush on her that they really started dating, in the spring of 2019. Both Cole and Ludovica thought they were out of each other’s league.

Anybody that knows Cole knows that he is the biggest Maryland fan there is. Receiving the support and kind comments from Cole during Ludovica’s British Open rounds in the summer of 2018, and the affirmation from Cole’s friend Donald, encouraged Ludovica to visit the golf shop as much as possible. If any of her teammates had to go in the shop, they knew Ludovica was happy to go for them as an excuse to see Cole, by the spring Ludovica pretty much knew Cole’s working schedule by heart.

Cole finally found the courage to ask Ludovica out! Of course, their first date was a Maryland basketball game on March 8th against Minnesota, the Terps won 69-60 and Cole nearly lost his voice cheering the team on. Ludovica thought it was hard finding anyone else with more Maryland pride than her, but she had not met Cole yet.

GETTING TO KNOW EACH OTHER

COVID GAVE US NEW OPPORTUNITIES

Since March 8th, 2019, Ludovica and Cole have been inseparable, sharing their unconditional love for golf, for the Terps, and each other. Cole even visited Ludovica in August of 2019 in Italy, (that summer break was the longest they had gone without seeing each other), needless to say Ludovica’s friends and family immediately loved Cole’s kind soul, and he had a lot of fun meeting her family and loved ones while experiencing the cuisines, the sea, the traditions, and Aldo’s wild nature excursions.

When covid hit in March 2020 Ludovica and Cole were dating for a little over a year, the pandemic left Ludovica with a tough choice, to go back to Italy for quarantine like most of her friends and teammates did or stay in the United States with Cole and quarantine with his family. Although it was a hard choice Ludovica decided to stay with Cole as she knew it would have been unbearable spending all that time apart as well as a decision to leave would have jeopardized her current visa status and graduation.

Covid gave them further opportunities to spend a lot of time together and strengthen their relationship as well as spending quality time with Polly and Walter, the best parents-in-law anyone could ask for. It was a tough time for Cole with no sports going on but that gave him more opportunities to widen his horizons and to start to learn some Italian! When quarantine was over it was clear that spending time in each other’s company was something that came easily and naturally and that is why they decided to get married on June 7th, 2020.

They are still excited some years and green cards later to be able to celebrate their union with their families, friends, and loved ones this upcoming August 22, 2024. Currently they spend most of their days together working at the same golf course (Bethesda Country Club) and just being able to be together is the highlight of their days.
